Reflection for 2 minutes





2. My group made a lot of changes to our video. Our first video was very.. plain. We introduced our topic with us talking and some subheadings of what we were saying. There was no music throughout our video. It seemed.. boring. We listed to our peers and changed up our video for the final draft. For our final draft, we added pictures of Global Warming and Green house gases. Also, in our interview with Kristina Hunter we added a caption of what she was saying and took out the picture. Our first draft also had no talking, so we added that with the music.

3. We found our expert at the University of Winnipeg, Kristina Hunter. We thought we wouldn't be able to find someone to talk to about this problem throughout the world, but we made some phone calls and found her! Our expert Kristina Hunter added a lot to our project. She was a big help! She answered a lot of the questions we had for her and added to the knowledge that we already know. She gave us some interesting facts about how Insects can effect us in Winnipeg if the weather gets hotter. We had a 30 minute interview with her over the phone. She gave us as much information as possible. This gave us a variety of things that she said, to choose from so that it could be in our project!

5. Our greatest success in our movie was the advice on what you can do to help! Because you may not know it, but you ARE making a difference by doing those things. It might not seem like much, but it is. I think our most favorite and our peers favorite also was the PTFO (Pee Twice Flush Once) Karen Sule decided that it would be a good idea to include that in our video, since we all do it! In the future, I will learn how to use movie maker properly so that we could put music and us talking at the same time. Without the music it seemed very.. bare. I think having music would've made our project flow better.

6. A lot of things stressed myself and my group. If our project was like google docs, where more than one person could work on it together, it would be so much better! We always had to stare time after school to work on it. Also, finding how to put music and talking at the same time stressed us out. Putting the slides together was the easy part. But editing it was stressing. Finding pictures was also stressing because on Flickr there were barely any pictures for our topic. To be successful, my group got together all 3 of us to work on it. All together, so that if we made changes to the movie, we would all agree on it. This really helped us choose on what and what not we want in our movie.

7. 2 minutes project is important because it shows that just 2 minutes of your time can make a difference in the world! Not even 2 minutes, sometimes even 2 seconds like throwing out a can into the recycling bin! It sure doesn't take 2 minutes to put a project together. But it can take 2 minutes to do a good deed for our world and the people around us!!

8. I am already trying to make a difference in the world and am still making a difference. Even the people around me like my family! We recycle instead of the waste going all to land mills. I turn off the faucet when brushing my teeth. I try not to use too much water while showering and also try not to litter. I remind myself that by me not doing such things I am making a difference. I want to walk and see the ground instead of walking on litter. I would like the see the beauty around me. This motivates me to keep making a difference.

Term 2 Reflection

In term 2 I've learned a lot about 3 D Shapes and the formulas for finding there volumes and areas.
EX: Volume of Cylinder =Pi x Radius x Radius x Height, Area of Prisms = Length x Width, Volume of Rectangular Prism = Length x Width x Height. We also had to learn how to make nets, 3 D shapes.

I mostly struggled on the formulas because there were a lot of them and I had to remember all of them, but with some practice I finally remembered all of them.

Next term I will try to focus on my homework and study more about what we will learn. I will also try to get my grades higher and continue doing a good job on tests.

I've learned so much from term 2, that the surface area of a shape is the sum of all the areas and can and can determine the Surface Area and Volume of a 3 D shape. And that Volume is the amount of space a 3 D shape has, and probably a lot more about 3 D shapes.

Ivan's Term 2 Reflection.

What I’ve learned in term two was, total surface area, and volumes. I’ve struggled a lot in surface area at first I didn’t get it until Mr. Harbeck explained it right. Volume I was comfortable with, but the cylinder. I’ve struggled a lot on cylinder, because I hate them. But once I got to know the formula, I studied it so I can learn it better. For the next term, I will try my hardest to get my grades up. I did well on the Surface Area because I understood them a lot, but the net was complicated, we had to draw them out. I didn’t like the net at first, until I practiced drawing the nets, I got to know the nets a lot better, and in term 2 my test improved. This term, I would like to work better, and improve my test marks a lot better.

Term 2 Reflection

In term two for math, we learned how to convert fractions, percents and how to find the volume and surface area of prisms. I found finding the volume of prisms the easiest topic that we learned in math because, for me it was the most interesting and I was better at it than the other ones. In term two my math grade didn't go up like I hoped it would, because I didn't do all the blog work I should have. Next term I'm going to try to get a better math mark by doing way more blog assignments and completing more homework.

Term 2 Reflection.

Hello, My name is Diana Rodrigues and I’m a grade 8 student. This term in math we did converting fractions, percentages, volumes, and surface areas. I did well on finding the surface area of different shapes. I found this chapters one of the easiest ones that we did so far. Also I did well on drawing nest and making 3D shapes on graph paper. The tests for Prisms and Cylinders weren’t even hard, I’d only get a couple wrong. Also I did pretty good on finding the volume of all those shapes. I really got how to do it, It easy to understand.


I wasn’t very good at remembering all the formulas for all the different shapes. Also I wasn’t very good with finding percentages and converting fractions. I often got confused. I kind of struggled on finding the volume of a shape inside of a shape, but after a while of doing it I kind of get it now.


For term 3 I’m going to try to get better in math by, doing more blogs, asking questions and finishing my homework. I want to be ready for grade 9 because I don’t want to fail. Try to finish all the questions that Mr.Harbeck assigns me, because they will help me understand it more and it will be easier for me on tests. I will also try not to rush on test, so I`ll read everything it is asking me to do. Also, I would like to do better on my blogs by doing more then Mr.Harbeck asked me to do, and try to comment on everyithng that is published. So that’s how I would want to get better.

Term 2 Reflection



In term 2, I believe I did good on the nets of three-dimensional objects, the volume of the cylinder(π.R.R.H [Pi-3.14 x radius x radius x height]), the surface area of a prism(A=LxW [area=length x width]), and the volume of the rectangular prism(LxWxH [length x width x height]).

What made me struggle was remembering all the formulas on the volumes but in the end I was able to remember the 3 formulas.

For next term, I will try to stay focus and try to catch up on any home work that I miss. Also, I will try to get my marks up and my grades higher. Lastly, I will try to ignore the distractions throughout the grades.

What I learned about percents is that I can combine and compare percents. Also, what I learned about the surface area is that the surface area is the sum of all the areas and that it determines the surface area and volume of three-dimensional objects. Lastly, the volume. The volume is measured in "cubic" units. The volume of a figure is the number of cubes needed to fill it completely, like blocks in a box.

The difference between the surface area and the volume is that the surface area would be measured in square inches. The area of a flat surface, like a desk top. The volume is the inside area, like inside a balloon. This would be measured in cubic inches (inches x inches x inches).

What I did well on this term was volume, I found it very easy to understand and I did good on the tests. I did most of the homework that was given.
I struggled on some of the homework, because I was lazy at some points and sometimes didn’t understand things. I would like to to better next term by studying on the tests and doing the homework. I would also like to use my time effectively.
What I learned about percents were how to find the percent of a fraction and decimal. What I learned about surface area was base multiplied by height divided by two for a triangular prism. Length multiplied by width for rectangular prisms, and pie multiplied by radius squared for a cylinder. For volume, we took the same formulas but we multiply a height as well.

Term 2 Reflection

Hi, my name is Marie Domingo and I’m here to talk about my term 2 reflection. I did well on the percent unit because it was the easiest for me. The percent problems took me at least 2 minutes to finish each. I understood it so fast! Also, I perfected most of my tests and quizzes. One thing I struggled with at first were making nets for prisms and cylinders. Even if Mr. Harbeck taught us how to draw them, it still confused me. But by lots of practice, I was able to draw nets more quickly and accurately. Next term, I will try to ask more questions and further my answers. Also, I want to perfect all my tests and quizzes.


In term 2, we learned about getting the percent of numbers and how to solve percent word problems. One method I really liked was using t-charts. Also, we converted fractions, decimals, and percents. I didn’t understand how to convert them at first, but after a while I was able to get it.


Another unit we focused on was surface area. All 3D objects are measured in square units. We learned how to make nets of prisms and cylinders using grid paper. A net turns a 3D object into a 2D object. A rectangular prism has 6 faces, and each face is a rectangle. There is a front, side, and top view of each rectangular prism. A triangular prism has 5 faces. 3 of the faces are rectangles while 2 of them are triangles. A cylinder has 3 faces. 2 are circles, and one of them is a rectangle. As I said, the hardest for me was making the nets. It was difficult to transform a 3D object into a 2D object containing all sides. Though, I was able to understand it after doing a few more nets!


The last thing we learned in term 2 was volume. The volume of an object is how much space the object can take. The formula to find the volume is v = area of base x height. For a rectangular prism, you would have to multiply the length and width together to find the area of base. For a triangular prism, the formula would be base x height / 2 x height. The base of the triangular prism is a triangle, and it cannot be anything else. For a cylinder, the formula to find the volume would be v = pi r r h x height. I didn’t have any trouble with this unit. This one was pretty easy to understand.


The difference between surface area and volume is that surface area is the area of the prism or cylinder’s faces. Volume is the area of how much an object can take. Basically, surface area is the area of the outside, and volume is the area of the inside.

Term 2 Reflection

As a new student,it became so hard to do things you had never done before but some things were pretty easy.On my first day of school,we were studying about volume of cylinders and prisms.I had studied those things before so I'm pretty sure that I did well on my first day of school.While studying volume I learned this formulas:S x S x S for a cube; pi . r . r . h for a cylinder;l .w.h for a rectangular prism and b.h1.h2 for a triangular prism.In times when the diameter is given instead of a radius,just divide the diameter in half to get the radius.I get confused with those formulas sometimes but I always managed to figure what right formula to use.To be better next term,I just got to be more studious and responsible with my math homework and if I do that ,Im sure that I will get high marks.
Surface area is the area of a flat surface while volume is the inside area like inside a balloon.

For term 2 we learned about percent,surface area and volume. For percent we learned about showing percents into hundred grids. At class, we also learned about finding a percent of a number. We also learned about combining percents like finding the total price of the shoes by multiplying the number to the percent. In surface area we learned about viewing 3 dimensional object like looking what's the top,front, and side view. In this chapter we learned how to do nets which is the 2 dimensional version of the 3D object when flat. After knowing how to make a net we now learned how to get the surface area of a rectangular prism,triangular prism, and cylinder. Surface Area is the number of square units need to cover a 3D object. In the volume chapter, we learned how to calculate the volume of 3D object which you multiply the area of base and height for rectangular prism,triangular prism,and cylinder. Lastly we learned about solving problems involving prisms and cylinders. Which is for example a cylinder is inside a rectangular prism. We can either add it or subtract it depending on the problem

I did well on getting the surface area and volume of prisms because they don't confuse me and the part that I struggle is getting the surface area of cylinders because getting the surface has too many stuff going.

To do better for the next term I will study more and understand the problems more and if I'm confuse I will ask my classmates or Mr. Harbeck.

The difference between volume and surface area is that surface area is finding the area of the seen surface while the volume gets how many squares fill up the 3D object.
Surface Area and Volume have in common is that they both get the area of the 3 dimensional object.

Term 2 Reflection

Hello , my name is Justin Gacilan.

Second Term was not so good for me , due to the lack of behaviour, the people I sit with, and my responsibility to learn. I did do well on the homework textbook, and the Math textbook questions.
I learned the important stuff of what was needed such as surface areas, volumes, and percentages. Although, I enjoyed the fact that we learnt how to find the surface area, formulas, and volumes of prisms. Most of the quizzes I had done this term were pretty well, but the most important quizzes we were given I did not do so well and did not plan as expected, I would get somewhat around 81% and lower. I wished that I had asked questions to Mr.Harbeck to the problems I did not know.

For Term 3 I would like to focus more on the assignments given, study more often, (15-30 mins on a daily basis) and ask more questions if I have any problems. I will continue to catch up on work, to accomplish the goals I have wanted to achieve, doing textbook homework taught me more things then reading a picture book. It prepares me for future quizzes, tests, etc.
On most of the tests, I would be confused cause I never really read the questions properly and rush cause I worry that I won't be finished in time. Also, for this term I will post more comments on blogs, from 8-17 to 8-73.

I will also do better this term, by improving on my study skills, and sitting with different people and not sitting with the ''Dark Hole'' or as Mr.Harbeck would say ''Black Hole''.
Last Term I had learnt a lot, thanks to a friend of mine who had my back. '' Kyle ''

TERM 2 REFLECTION

Hi, my name is Rowell D. Cabate. I’m Grade 8 student room 17.In this term 2 I enjoyed about different of volume. In volume we write about volume of the rectangular prism and triangular and cylinder prism and surface area of an triangular and rectangular.I think is to hard when i study in math .

i`m struggle in the volume of an cylinder , triangular and rectangular prism.also how make a net of an cubic,triangular and rectangular. how to solution about height of an cylinder and triangular.

Term 2 Reflection

Hello there, my name is Angel Malapit and I’m a grade 8 math student. Term 2 was a pretty good term for me, I found our chapters fun and not as complicated. We learned about converting fractions, percentages, volumes, and surface areas. I did well on nets and found it easy to draw 3D shapes on the graph paper. I enjoyed doing formulas, finding surface areas and volumes of cylinders, rectangular prisms, and triangular prisms because I found them easy to understand.The quizzes and tests weren’t difficult about shapes and their volumes, I would get 90-100%.

Although, I wasn’t very strong with finding percentages and converting fractions. I often got confused when we would be solving a problem or doing a test. I also struggled in finding the volume of a prism inside a prism, I would get confused when they would tell you to round the answer to the nearest centimetre when it gives you metres. But I got Mr. Harbeck to help me out on that.

For term 3, I will continue to do all my homework and finish my textbook pages Mr. Harbeck assigns me. Finishing those pages really helped me understand more and made it easier for me on tests because I got a lot of practice. I will also try not to be lazy to read everything on a test because sometimes I rush and would get my answers wrong. That was a mistake I learned from. Also, I would like to do better on my blogs by giving more than what’s expected and comment every time there is work published because i would usually procrastinate and then I’m left with a whole bunch of posts to comment on. So that’s how i would want to get better.

What i learned about findings surface areas and volumes is that following the formula is very important. Like for cylinders, the formula for finding the volume is first you have to find the radius from the given diameter and the formula for that is base x height / 2, then you multiply pi x r x r x h, that’s how you would find the volume of a cylinder. I learned how to reduce a price with a given percentage, how to find the total cost of an item including taxes, how to convert fractions and decimals, I’m not the best at that, I still get confused but that’s something I will have to practice. I also learned that the difference between volume and surface area, is that volume is a measurement of the space a 3D object takes up, while surface area is the area of a 2D object.

Term 2 Reflection

In this term i did vary well on doing my homework,quiz,and test. Keep all my homework
ready to hand in and practice for my test and quiz. Some of the test were hard but i try to pull through.

I struggled on my math blog because i keep for getting to put in comments weekly and putting homework on it. I was confused on Some of the formulas for cylinder. For the term 3 am going to try harder to get my quiz much better and tests too. and getting better on my on the math blog to get a better mark in math to make my parent happy. math blog i will try to do it more offeted to get a great mark.

The thing i learn this term about in percents,surface area and volume. volume such as the triangle prism and cylinder and rectangular prism formulas Ex for each formulas rectangular lxwxh . Cylinder pi x r xr x h and triangular prism where you do bxh divide by 2,

Term 2 Reflection

Term 2 reflection
Hi, my name is Casey Younger and i’m a grade 8 math student, and Term 2 was pretty good for me. I found out that the chapters this term were a lot easier then last term. I also went up 8 percent for my term 2 mark. I also did well on all my tests, I would get around 80-100 %, the chapter i found the easiest was finding the surface area of shapes.

A chapter I had troubles with was Volume, but when I re wrote my notes, everything made sense and i got 18/19 on my Volume test. Another thing i had a little bit of troubles in was remembering the formulas. But I know them all now.

I will do better next term by, studying for tests more, doing more of the textbook work, commenting on blogs, making more blogs, and working really hard to understand the chapters if I don’t understand them.

What I learned about Percent, Surface Area, and Volume is how to do the work, and that those chapters can effect me in real life, because a lot of people use percent for finding out test scores.

Term 2 Reflection

In Term 2, I did very well in the finding out the volume of shapes ( prisms, and cylinders ) We have to follow the formula, (pi x r x r)x h. I understood how to do it because I practiced at home and got help from my friends, which really helped me .

I struggled in percents the most because I did not understand it, I also struggled in volume because I couldn't remember the formulas. In Term 3, I would like to work harder on assignments, and homework. I would like to focus and demonstrate that I am learn. I also would like to do all of my computer work, so I will do better this in this Term. In term 2 i slacked off a lot and was easily distracted, this term I would like to be reminded if I a , and focus in my work. Therefore, I would like to sit with my usual friends, because they have helped me and explain what I was doing wrong. I am more comfortable doing work and homework with my friends, because they are very helpful and demonstrate good role models for me.

I learned a lot this term about percents, surface area, and volume such as all the formulas that are involved. And how to use the formulas correctly, so i wont mess up.

Term 2 Reflection

In term two i have learned a lot this year. What i like about this year was that i got to learn about shapes, such as triangles and cylinders. For me, it was hard to understand but not i get it but sometimes. Also pi again this year.

In the next term, i will work harder and prepare for the exams. i will get my computer work done and also my math work so i understand and don’t slack off this term. The things that were hard for me was if the area was already on the problem, i wouldn’t understand what to do. Someone that helped me a lot for this year was Cameron, He helped me understand the formula better and it really made a difference.


In the beggining of term two, we were also learning about percent, it was my best subject since it was always out of a 100. It wasn’t hard for me because there was no formula to comprehend. We also learned about the surface area, (didn’t like). the surface area had to much formulas that made me confussed.
