Winnipeg Harvest

During The Tour

When we got to the building we sat and a person from the Winnipeg Harvest told us about a bunch of stuff. He showed a map of where the different food banks were around Manitoba. The the top things that they needed were:

1. Canned Fish & Poultry
2.Canned Fruits & Vegetables
3.Canned Stew, Chili, Brown Beans
4.Baby Food
5.Whole Grain/Wheat Pasta
6.Peanut Butter
7.Rice
8.Canned Spaghetti Sauce
9.Cereal
10.Canned Soup

Who Do They Help?

The Winnipeg Harvest send food to the "Hungry" or poor people and people in poverty.
They get the food from kind people and also themselves. Stores that have food products that they do not need send a lot to Winnipeg Harvest.

During The Volunteer

When we were volunteering we had many boxes of canned food in a table and in another there are many big bags. Some people would stay in a table to put 3 different kinds of canned foods in a plastic bag and close them. On the other table when they send plastic bag full of canned, we would take 7 of the plastic bags and put them in 1 big bag and tape them shut. It was a lot of work but it was to help since we were doing it for the people.
