Justin Lorenzo's Pythagoras Scribe Post

Home Work For The Weekend : Math Textbook Pages 91 - 94

Question Answers:

1.) In a relation the areas of the triangles is that the first and also second triangle have the squares on the the side to show the areas of (a, b, c). The last triangle as you can see does not contain the squares around it.

6.) A) 25 + 144 = 169
B) 5cm, 12cm, 13cm
C) The sum of all the areas of both smaller squares will be equal to the largest one, 5 2 + 12 2 = 13 2

13.) I think no, The garden is not a right triangle, the sum of all the areas of the smaller squares is not equal to the area of the largest square there, 4800 + 4800 does not equal 9800, it equals 9600.

20.) The sum of the areas of the two smaller semi-circles is equal to the area of the semi-circle on to the Hypotenuse of the triangle.

Robin's Pythagoras

Pg: 91-94

5) A)

B) 402=1600
75=5625
85=7225

C) A2+B2=C2
402+752=852
(40x40)+75x75)=(85x85)
16002+56252+72252
72252=72252mm

10)

A2+B2=C2
1202+1602=2002
(120x120)+(160x160)=(200x200)
144002+256002+400002
40000mm2=40000mm2

It yes, because it right triangle since a2 plus b2 equals c2.
ex.(144002+256002=400002)

15)
A2+B2=C2
82+62=102
(8x8)+(6x6)=(10x10)
642+362=1002
100cm2=100cm2

Well i think it is a right
triangle because 642 plus 362 equals 100cm2

19) Well i got confused on this one so i couldn't answer it .

Yes,I think this is a right triangle since a

I think this is a right triangle since 362 plus 642 equals 1002

    Homework, Show you know

    Homework:

    Show you know #1
    A triangle has side lengths of 12 cm , 16 cm & 20 cm.
    a) What are the area of the three squares that can be drawn on the sides of the triangle?
    b) Is the triangle a right triangle? Explain.

    Show you know #2
    The side of a right angle triangle is 9 cm , 12 cm & 15 cm.
    a) sketch a picture of the triangle. Draw a square on each side of a triangle.
    b) what is the area of each square.
    c) write an additional statement using the areas of the 3 squares.

    Triangles

    1) Explain a² + b² = c²

    a² + b² = c²
    (4x4) + (3x3) = c²
    16 + 9 = c²
    25 = c²

    So, a² in this case is 4 cm².
    B = 3 cm² and C = 5 cm²
    So, when you want to figure out what the hypothenuse is, you use this formula. So once you figure out that c² = 25, you find the square root of 25 which is 5 and that's what the hypothenuse on this triangle is.
    * Notice that 3², 4² and 5² are all perfect squares.
    ( 3x3=9 ) ( 4x4=16 ) ( 5x5=25)

    2) Use a second grid to create a² + b² = c²
    Make the triangle
    Look at picture.

    3) C² to C ... How ?

    To find out how to get C² to C you have to multiply the number by itself.
    Ex. 5² you have to multiply 5 by itself.
    5x5 = 25.
    Then if you want to get from C to C² you have to do the opposite. This time, you have to figure out the square root of your number.
    Ex. The square root of 25 is 5.

    This site should help you figure out the length of the hypothenuse and plus it has many formulas.
    THANKS FOR READING MY SCRIBE POST ! And extra thanks to Mr. Harbeck for helping me make this scribe better :) Please feel free to leave any comments and suggestions you have.

    Pythagoras

    Right Triangle

    A right triangle needs to have a right 90 degree angle and have three sides.
    The sides that make up the right angle are called legs.

    Side C is the Hypothenuse.
    It is located opposite of the right triangle.
    C is always the largest side.

    This is a video that talks about the sides of a triangle, it is pretty much the same as what I have been saying, this is just to see what I was talking about.

    Here was the homework from today.

    You have to explain this equation: a2+b2=c2. You can try to figure it out on your own, or you can do some research on it, the equation is made from an ancient Greek person called Pythagoras.

    Make sure to study for the math Quiz tomorrow.
