Trish's Algebra Post

Algebra- Writing mathematical phrases using letters to represent numbers.

ex. 2x = 10
100 / x =5'

Easy Steps to Solve an Algebra equation :
  1. Isolate the variable ( Variable - a letter that represents a number in an algebraic equation or expression)

  2. Cancel the constant using zero pair ( Constant - the integer in an algebraic equation or expression)

  3. Balance- doing it to both sides

  4. Verify to check ( equality )

Expression: pattern- many answers
ex. 5x

Equation: only has one answer- has an equal sign
ex. 5x=25

HOW TO SOLVE ONE STEP EQUATIONS -

Just use the 4 steps of solving an Algebra Equation and you'll do fine,

  • Isolate the variable
  • Cancel the constant using zero pair

  • Balance- doing it to both sides

  • Verify to check ( equality )
For example,

Multiplying One Step Equations

Use the 4 steps again :

  1. Isolate the variable

  2. Cancel the constant using zero pair

  3. Balance- doing it to both sides

  4. Verify to check ( equality )

Always use the 4 Steps :

  1. Isolate the variable

  2. Cancel the constant using zero pair

  3. Balance- doing it to both sides

  4. Verify to check ( equality )
