Cameron's Algebra

Algebra - Writing mathematical phrases using letters to represent numbers:
eg. m+9=16,
m=7

One Step Equation:
Variable - A letter that represents a number in an algebraic expression or equation.
eg. a+12=14
Constant - The integer in an algebraic equation or expression.
eg. 19+m=9
Expression - Pattern - many answers.
eg. 6x
Equation - Only has one answer and has an equal sign (=).
eg. 3x=12

Solving an Algebraic Equation:
1) Isolate the variable
2) Cancel the constant using zero pair
3) Balance, doing it to both sides
4) Verify to check

Here is a video for one step equations:

Two Step Equation:
Steps:
1.) Isolate the variable.
2.) Cancel the constant.
3.) Balance.
4.) Simplify the variable.
5.) Balance.
6.) Verify
