Algebra - writing mathematical phrases using letters to represent numbers

Variable
- the unknown
- use a letter to represent a number

Constant - the integer in an algeb
raic expression or equation

Solving One-Step Equation
1) Isolate the variable
2) Cancel using the opposite

- Create a zero pair for the CONSTANT
3) Balance on the other side of the equal sign
4) Verify your answer

Ex. n + 6 = 14

3) Balance
4) Simplify the variable
5) Balance
6) Verify

Ex. 2x + 4 = 10

  1. Great job Demvry! I liked the way you used colors to emphasize important words. Also, you added videos, pictures, and lots of links. Next time, you may want to take a picture of your own work instead of using paint. Other than that, good job!
