Kaecee's Algebra Post

Variable: The unknown, using a letter to represent the number.
Constant: The integer in an algebraic expression or equation.
*You have to make a zero pair
Algebra: Writing mathematical phrases using letters to represent numbers
Eg. 9x -7 = -7

Solving Addition/Subtraction One Step Equations:
1. Isolate the variable
2. Cancel using the opposite
- Create a zero pair for the constant
3. Balance on the other side of the equal sign
4. Verify your answer

3 + p = 8
3 - 3 + p = 8 - 3
p = 5
3 + p = 5
3 + 5 = 8
8 = 8

x - 7 = 13
x - 7 + 7 = 13 + 7
x= 20
x - 7 = 13
20 - 7 = 13
13 = 13

a) V = l x w x h
3m x 5m = 15m2
15m2 x 1m = 15m3
V = 15m3

b) V = l x w x h
11m x 12m = 132m2
132m2 x 6m = 792m3
V= 792m3

c) V = l x w x h
4m x 6.2m = 24.8m2
24.8m2 x 2m = 49.6m3

4m2 x 10m = 40m3
V = 40m3

Term 2 Reflection

In term two i have learned a lot this year. What i like about this year was that i got to learn about shapes, such as triangles and cylinders. For me, it was hard to understand but not i get it but sometimes. Also pi again this year.

In the next term, i will work harder and prepare for the exams. i will get my computer work done and also my math work so i understand and don’t slack off this term. The things that were hard for me was if the area was already on the problem, i wouldn’t understand what to do. Someone that helped me a lot for this year was Cameron, He helped me understand the formula better and it really made a difference.


In the beggining of term two, we were also learning about percent, it was my best subject since it was always out of a 100. It wasn’t hard for me because there was no formula to comprehend. We also learned about the surface area, (didn’t like). the surface area had to much formulas that made me confussed.

Kaecee's pay it forward



Part 1
I watched a movie named Trevor and he was told an assignment for his social studies class,
which was for the child too think of how he can change the world then actually do it. Trevor had an
idea of changing 3 peoples lives then tell them too pay it forward and change 3 peoples lives so its
like a chain."Pay it Forward" and it is about a child named Trevor that "Pay it forward" is a term that mean when you do one act of kindness to a person with only one thing in return, which is for that person to do the same but maybe in another way.

Part 2

1.My groups act of kindness for Pay it Forward was donating all our unwanted toys too the "Helping Hand Foundation"

2.We chose this activity because we had extra toys that we never use anymore and we thought of donating them to the less fortunate. So that maybe when there older they can show an act of kindness and donate toys to other unfortunate.

3.We helped the immigrates of Winnipeg that may not have a lot of money right now, and the children's of the families need some toys that might make there day better.

4. We did our act of kindness on December 17th at 12:00-12:50

Part 3

1. Our act of kindness went well because we gathered a lot of toys that we didn't need and donated all of it.

2. We all had little gatherings of toys, after we went to a church that would send the toys too different immigrate families, and then we told the _______ about Pay it Forward and asked if she would Pay it Forward.

3. When we donated the toys I felt really joyful because I know that the children that get them are going to have a good child hood memory of people giving them toys that they might not afford.

4. The lady was happy and shocked because we are taking small steps to helping the people around us at such a young age.

5. We asked her if she would "Pay it Forward" and she answered with her saying that she has did pay it forward by also giving un needed toys and also doing volunteer jobs when she has extra time.

Part 4

1. The term "Pay it Forward" to me is very important because we can make small changes to peoples lives step by step, and which can change a small portion of the world.


2. I'm not to sure if my act of kindness made a difference but I'm thinking that it did because it can maybe bring joy to children's childhood and hope that he will also pay it forward.

Kaecee's Math Profile

Hey, my name is Kaecee Ramirez and I am a Grade 8 math student. If someone were to ask me if I really liked math, I would say yes. I really like solving problems such as multiplication, decimals, and many more.Its just that sometimes it confuses me because of the letters and stuff.

Last year in grade 7 I learned about integers, it was really easy and I enjoyed playing with the chips because it had helped me a lot. I also did well on my tests and quiz's but i know i could do way better. Other thing I like about math are Mean, Median, Mode and Range, they are easy to solve. I didn't like the unit that you have to find the diameter and radius using pi because it was hard and really confusing.

This year I am going to try my best for the tests and quiz's. This year I expected myself to do way better than last year, so I can study more harder and I want to be successful on this subject because it makes me feel good when i do math, but just not the math text book because i like it when it relates to the world.

Last year, I was not very good at doing the blog and i didn't really put effort in it. I know this year we're going to put more blogging, so i have to be ready and start really doing my blogs. This year i would like to start relating, like in real life situations.
