Kyle's Final Percent Post

Percent- Percent means out of 100. An example would be 50/100.

Representing percents
Using hundred grids, is a way of representing percents. a fully shaded grid represents 100%. to represent a percent greater the 100%, you can shade in multiple hundred grids. representing a fractional percent between 0 and 1, you shade part of a square. Representing a fraction percent that is greater than 1, shade in squares that represent the whole numbers and shade part of a square.



Fractions,decimals, and percents
Fractions,decimals,and percents can represent numbers in situations.
Percents can be written as fractions,and decimals.
ex. 150%
decimal-1.5
fraction-150/100


Percent of a number
to find the percent of a number, you can write a percent as a decimal and multiply by the number.
ex. 50% of $100
decimal-0.50
0.50x100=$50


Combining percents
you can combine percents by adding to solve problems.
you can:
-add the combined percent with the original number.
ex.50%of 100
0.5x100=50 50+100=150
-multiply the original number by a single percent greater than 100.
ex. 150% of 100
1.50x100=150
