PRIME FACTORIZATION- a number written as the product of its prime factors.

45 is not a perfect square because it has an odd number of factors of 3 and 5.

TEXTBOOK QUESTIONS 1, 5, 10, and 16. (page 85 and 86)

1. Explain how to square the number 7.

answer:

To square number 7, multiply it to itself. Then you'll get 49.

7 x 7 = 49.

5. a) Determine the prime factorization of 4.

b) Is 4 a perfect square? Explain.

c) Draw the square and label it's side length.

b.)Yes, 2 appeared two times. If you multiply 2 to itself, you'll get 4.

10. Determine the area of a square with each side length.

a) 20

b) 17

answer:

a) 20 cm x 20 cm = 400 square units

b) 17 cm x 17 cm = 289 square units

15. EVALUATE.

a.) `square root 9

b.) `square root 25

c.) `square root 1600

answer:

a.) The square root of 9 is 3.

3 x 3 = 9 / 3 multiply by itself, you'll get 9.

b.) The square root of 25 is 5.

5 x 5 = 25 / 5 multiply by itself, you'll get 25.

c.) the square root of 1600 is 40.

40 x 40 = 1600 / 40 multiply by itself, you'll get 1600.

2.) How would you find use prime factorization to determine the square root of 225.

What I did is first I look at the perfect square chart that we made then I saw that 225 is a perfect square then I saw that the square root is 15. Then so I made this.

6.) a.) The prime factorization of 64 is 2x2x2x2x2x2

b.) 64 is a perfect square because the first pair of numbers are the same.

11.) The square of 9 is 81 because if you multiply 9 and 9 the answer will be 81.
